Yemi Afolabi Osokoya is a movement artist, choreographer, and filmmaker based in Lagos, Nigeria.
A visionary at heart, he is a founding member of Westsyde Lifestyle, a key advocate for Afro-urban culture,
actively shaping and promoting its vibrant expressions and influence.
Through his journey as both a dancer and filmmaker, Yemi has discovered salvation and joy in reinvention.
His artistic practice is deeply intertwined with his environment, reflecting real-life situations and harnessing body intelligence for adaptation.
Passionate about creating spaces that evoke a familiar yet abstract world, he skillfully balances chaos and order.
Through movement and visual art, Yemi crafts intersections that expand our imaginations, fostering a profound sense of depth and connection.
As a choreographer and co-director, Yemi has been privileged to share his passion for
culture and storytelling across the globe.
He is currently on tour with Oulouy’s “Afrikan Party,” By Supa Rich Kids produced by Africa Moment in Barcelona,
where he serves as co-director and performer.
Beyond performance, Yemi plays pivotal roles as a curator and co-organizer for Afropolis in Barcelona,
collaborating with Africa Moment for the GREG Festival 2020. Additionally, as the founder and curator of Town Square, he has established a vibrant communal gathering that fosters a safe haven for artists to connect, create, and thrive.
